Description

The Ambu Bag is a handheld device commonly used to provide positive pressure ventilation to patients who are not breathing or not breathing adequately.  The pediatric mask creates a proper seal required to aspirate the patient.   Dental boards require pediatric dentists with sedation permits to carry an pediatric Ambu Bag in office due to the respiratory depression risk that sedatives pose. It is also called a bag valve mask, abbreviated to BVM and sometimes known generically as a manual resuscitator or self-inflating bag.
